Bihar govt to recommend fresh CBI probe

The fake encounter case in Gujarat appeared to have created echoes in Bihar where the government has decided to recommend a fresh CBI probe into the killing of three members of a family in an alleged fake encounter in Bhojpur district in the state. "We will approach the centre afresh to hand over the inquiry into the Bhojpur encounter to the CBI," state Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah said today. Three brothers were killed in an alleged fake encounter at Nawadaben village in Bhojpur district on August 2006 with the police suspecting them to be criminals. Under pressure from the opposition, the state government had announced it would recommend a CBI probe into it, but the centre is yet to respond to its request, official sources said.
