Rabri urges Bihar CM to call all-party meet on rise in crime

Patna, May 04: Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Rabri Devi on Friday asked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to call an all-party meeting to evolve 'an action plan' to check 'spiralling' crime graph in the state. Expressing serious concern over what she dubbed as 'spurt' in criminal activities in Bihar, particularly in state capital, the former Chief Minister, in a statement, said it has proved that the intelligence system had collapsed. She demanded that the Chief Minister should call a meeting of leaders of all political parties to evolve a strategy to streamline the law enforcement machinery and put an effective check on crime. The RJD leader referred to yesterday's killing of a contractor, engaged in renovation and construction works at the CM's secretariat, and the recent arrest of a securityman posted at the cm's official residence for involvement in a murder case to prove her point. "Murder, loot, kidnapping for ransom and other crimes have become order of the day. There has been a phenomenal rise in such cases in Patna, the seat of power, and it makes the situation more serious," she said in the statement.
