Ahmedabad, October 17 : Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has said if Tata Motors’ Nano project is facing trouble in Gujarat similar to that in Singur then it is welcome to Bihar, as the state has lots of wasteland.
“The Government here has given agriculture land to the Tatas for the setting up of Nano car project. Farmers are agitating against the move,” Lalu told reporters during his visit to Somnath on Thursday. “If the state government is not able to handle the Nano project here, the Tatas are welcome to Bihar,” he added.
“There is a lot of barren land around Dwarka (in Jamnagar). If they had given land near Dwarka, the area, which has not seen much development so far, would have been developed. People there don't get water to drink,” he said.
The Gujarat government has given 1,100 acres of Anand Agriculture University land to the Tatas for relocation of the Nano project from Singur in West Bengal to Sanand.
