Holi celebrated in Bihar with enthusiasm

Patna, March 4 (PTI):

Holi was celebrated with the usual fervour in Bihar with revellers taking to the streets and smearing each other with colour, flinging mud mixed with cow dung and tearing off each other's clothes.

Clad in new clothes and caps on their heads, they visited the houses of relatives, friends and acquaintances, exchanging greetings on the occasion.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the RJD chief and Railways Minister Lalu Prasas also celebrated the festival at their respective residences in their own inimitable style.

A steady stream of people in the morning visited Nitish Kumar's official residence where the Chief Minister exchanged gulal, shawls and bouquets.

Lalu, known for his 'Kapda Fad' (tearing of clothes) style of Holi, celebrated the festival of colours with several RJD leaders and journalists who visited his Circular Road bungalow.

The revellers threw mud mixed with cow dung and tore each other's clothes at the bungalow where Lalu along with his wife Rabri Devi, who is the Opposition leader in the state Assembly, distributed sweets. Folk songs and folk dances were also performed.

Several Bihar ministers preferred to celebrate the Holi at their respective constituencies. No untoward incident was reported, the police said.
