Patna: Feb. 20, 2007Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, reacting to the Monday morning bomb blast in Samjhauta Express that claimed 66 lives near Panipat, while expressing his grief, said the blasts were clearly a terror attack meant to derail the peace process between India and its neighboring country of Pakistan."Like those in Mumbai last year, the blasts were a clear case of terrorism and terrorists responsible for this attack will be found and brought to justice in a speedy manner," Yadav said in Patna minutes before leaving for the disaster site.Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, echoing the sentiments of the Railway Minister, also said this was clearly an attempt to push back peace process with Pakistan.Condemning the attack, Kumar, while talking to reporters at his Janata Darbar in Patna on Monday, blamed lack of adequate security on Indian trains, He, however, stopped short of demanding resignation of the Railway Minister."I don't think the Railway Minister should be blamed for incidents like these that are clearly the handiwork of some terrorists. A high level enquiry, however, must be ordered to bring the culprits to justice," the Chief Minister said.Meanwhile, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) activists in Patna, while expressing grief over the loss of 66 lives in the bomb blasts on Samjhauta Express, burnt the effigy of Yadav and Pakistani president Parwez Musharraf.Demanding the resignation of the Railway Minister, the protestors said Yadav had failed to perform his duties as he spends most of his time in Patna instead of running the Railway ministry in New Delhi. They also criticized the Pakistani president for 'unleashing Pakistani terrorists' in India.
