Patna, March 1. (PTI): The Bihar Government is determined to do away with the unaided education policy, its Human Resources Development Minister Brishan Patel told the Legislative Council on Wednesday.
The Government was committed to fulfill the long pending demands of the members that the policy in vogue for over two decades should be scrapped, he said adding it would be in the interest of the teachers.
Replying to a two-hour special debate on the issue, he said the Government was committed to end the system and had constituted a two-member commission headed by former foreign secretary Muchkund Dubey nine months ago to suggest measures for doing away with the system.
The commission would submit its report next month, Patel said adding the Government would take a final decision about scraping the unaided education policy in consultation with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the acting chairman of the council, Prof Arun Kumar, senior Government officials and union leaders.
Dissatisfied with the Government's reply, the RJD members staged a noisy walkout.
