BHAGALPUR: A local court in Bhagalpur on Thursday absolved senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi of violating the model code of conduct for elections. First Class Judicial Magistrate Manoj Kumar, after hearing both the sides, absolved Modi of the charges of violating model code of conduct.
An FIR against Modi was registered with Shahkund police station on April 4, 2004 for violating the model code of conduct by him as a BJP candidate for the Bhagalpur Lok Sabha seat. Modi was charged with setting up arches and banners in Shakund locality ignoring the Election Commission's orders and causing damage to public property.
