PATNA: State Health Society, Bihar (SHSB) on Tuesday asked the district magistrate (DM), Kaimur, to issue showcause to Dr Ekram of Referral Hospital, Mohaniya, for abstaining from duty on March 25, 2007, without prior approval of the civil surgeon. According to a SHSB press release issued on Tuesday, the said doctor not only signed the attendance register for March 25, the day on which he was found absent, but also in advance for March 26. The Rohtas DM has also been asked by the SHSB to terminate the services of contractual doctors who were found to have abstained from duty. The doctors are Dr Vishwanath Rai and Dr Sairaj Ahmad Ansari, both posted in primary health centre (PHC), Dinara, Dr Madhu Singh, PHC, Kargahar, Dr Ranvijay Kumar Singh in PHC, Suryapura/Davath and Dr Shambhu Kumar of Referral Hospital, Bikramganj. The SHSB has also asked the civil surgeon, Sitamarhi, to lodge an FIR against M/S Cyper Pharma, New Delhi, for supplying poor quality drugs to the PHC, Pupri. This comes after it was found — by an inspection team — that the wrapper of a strip of 80 tablets of Dicyclomin was open.
