People unsafe in state: Rabri

19 Apr, 2007

PATNA: Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Rabri Devi is paying her political opponents back in their own coin. Commenting on the law and order situation in the state, Rabri, in a press release issued here on Wednesday, said schoolchildren, parents, teachers and traders are feeling insecure. “Parents are hesitant to send their wards to schools. Even senior students are feeling unsafe,” Rabri said, using the same terms her political opponents used during her regime when they were in the Opposition. She said the state witnessed more criminal incidents during the nearly 18-month-old Nitish Raj than the past 25 years. She alleged criminals are being provided patronage by ruling party leaders and ministers. The former CM gave details of the crimes taking place in the state, including Patna. “Criminal activities are taking place in the name of ‘sushashan’,” she said. Taking a dig at CM Nitish Kumar, Rabri said the CM is on an “inauguration spree”. She alleged the NDA leaders are diverting people’s attention towards crime on wheels to conceal Nitish government’s failures. She pointed out the GRP is under the control of the state government and it has failed to control crime in trains.
