Vigilance sleuths in Bihar on Friday arrested 11 government officials on various corruption charges including forgery and cheating in connection with the Bihar Public Service Commission appointment scam in which many top officials have already been arrested.Additional Director General (ADG), Vigilance, Neelmani said raids, with the help of district police, were carried out in Patna, Gaya, Nawada, Bettiah, Samastipur, Motihari, and Gopalganj resulting in the arrests of 11 officials.Arrested officials were identified as Ram Avtar Prasad, PMCH store clerk; Ashok Kumar, a clerk at Patna collectorate; Ajay Kumar, accounts clerk at Patna collectorate; Sunil Kumar, a typist; Mohammed Imtiyaz Khan, supply inspector in Gaya; Ganesh Prasad, circle inspector in Gaya; Anil Bhardwaj, junior selection grade assistant in Nawada; Syed Khursheed Anwar, Urdu translator in Lauria in East Champaran district; Ram Briksha Kumar, assistant teacher, Vilaspur, Samastipur; Maruti Kumar Gupta, assistant, block office in Sikrahna in East Champaran district; and Vinod Kumar Rai, a junior clerk in Gopalganj.The scam relates to the promotion of hundreds of officials in various departments allegedly after senior bureaucrats in the Commission received hefty cash kickbacks in exchange.Top BPSC officials including its chairperson Ram Singhasan Singh and acting chairperson Razia Tabassum were earlier arrested in the same scandal. However, after spending less than a year in jail, both were granted bails by the Supreme Court.
