Bihar Government Acting out of Political Vendetta; Says RJD Leader

Patna: Mar. 5, 2007
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP and party spokesperson Motiurrahman, on Monday, said that the party leader and Siwan MP Mohammed Shahabuddin was the victim of a vast political conspiracy hatched by the Nitish government in Bihar that was out to eliminate opposition as we know it today.“While the Fast Track Court is out to condemn Shahabuddin on flimsy, cooked-up charges, there are dozens of politicians facing even more serious charges are moving freely under the protection of the ruling party,” Motiurrahman said in Patna.“Shahabuddin is not only the leader of his constituency; he also represents millions of minorities and backwards across the state. No one can beat him at the polling booths so the government wants to make sure he is ineligible to contest any election,” the RJD leader said. The MP also called Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a stooge of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) who was remotely controlled by leaders like VHP chief Praveen Togadia.“They can try all they want, the court will exonerate Shahabuddin of all the false charges that this government has fabricated against him,” he said.
