Patna-Ahmedabad Train Inaugurated; More Sops for Bihar

Patna: Feb. 21, 2007Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, while flagging off the weekly Patna-Ahmedabad Azeemabad Express from Rajendra Nagar Terminal in Patna on Wednesday, said his ministry had allocated over Rs. 15,000 crore worth of railway projects in Bihar and more was yet to come."In last three days alone, my ministry has introduced six new trains in Bihar. Besides, a coach and locomotive factory is being set up in Chhapra, and railway over-bridges are being built on Ganga and Kosi. I can safely say that I have lived up the promises made by me during the last budget announcement," the Railway Minister said.In a most un-Lalu like characteristic, Yadav refrained from making any political comment or open verbal assault on the Nitish government. He kept his address confined to railway matters and various projects affecting Bihar adding under his ministry, railways will soon be reaching in areas that had so far been ignored by previous railway ministries. The Azeemabad Express will leave Patna for Ahmedabad each Friday at 11:00 pm reaching Ahmedabad at 5:50 am on Sunday. Similarly, it will leave Ahmedabad on each Wednesday at 9:25 pm reaching Patna on Friday at 4:35 pm.Central Minister Kanti Singh, RJD MPs Ram Kripal Yadav and Vijay Krishna, former Bihar minister Shyam Rajak, Patna Central legislator Arun Kumar Sinha, and a number of senior railway officials were present on the occasion.
