Function to Honor Baba Gadgé

Patna: Feb. 23, 2007

Bihar Governor R. S. Gavai, on Friday in Patna, attended the idol unveiling ceremony in honor of Baba Gadgé organized by the All India Washermen Association urging everyone to follow the preaching of the saint for overall development of the state.

"I am fortunate to have been born in the same district in Maharashtra that also saw the birth of saint Gadgé, the Governor said.

As the chief guest, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also promised to follow on the footsteps of Baba Gadgé and thanked the Central government for sending like Gavai to Bihar as the Governor of the state.

Former Chief Minister and leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly, Rabri Devi, taking advantage of the otherwise pious occasion, blamed previous governments at the Center for lack of development in the state.

"The 15-month old Nitish government has received more money from the Center than the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) government ever got in its entire 15 years in power in Bihar so how could the state develop?" Rabri Devi said.

The function was presided over by senior RJD leader and former power minister Shyam Rajak.
