Muzaffarpur (Bihar): The British left the country nearly 59 years ago, but if police officers in Bihar's Muzaffarpur are to be believed, they left behind their ghosts.
These ghosts have done what hardened criminals in the area haven't managed to do.
They have spooked the police officials at the Meenapur police station out of their wits.
Forget about spook flicks, the Meenapur police station has a resident evil who has a fondness for a chair, on which a British police officer named Wallar once sat.
Present day policemen here refuse to enter Wallar's room or sit on his chair. They claim it's a recipe for nightmares. And that's not all, the resident evil even makes the crime rate shootup.
Says Assistant Sub-Inspector, Meenapur Thana, Satyendra Kumar Rai says, "Everything goes haywire if you sit on the chair but if you respect the ghosts, then everything remains calm."
Adds Sub-Inspector, Lalu Ram, "The crime rate shoots up if an officer sits on the chair and it's impossible to control."
And that's not all. Ghostbusters are also needed at the DIG's house in Muzzafarpur.
The former occupants of the house still recall the horror.
Says the wife of the former DIG Muzzaffarpur, Sadhna Bhardwaj, "All IPS officers' wives asked me to be careful. They told me there was a ghost there.
When we reached there, I realised that every night around 11 PM, there used to be a strange sound, as if there was a ghost."

Finally, a puja was organised by the authorities to scare the evil spirits away and the priests at Muzzaffarpur claim it's been a success.
Says an astrologer, Shrinath Tripathi, "There won't be any ghosts if you take Lord Ram's name. All your wishes will come true if you believe in the Lord."
Stories of ghosts are not just confined to villages. Even policemen fear ghosts, so much so that they are adopting unorthodox means to ward off the evil spirits.
This will definitely prompt the criminals of the state to innovate themselves to fox the Bihar police.
