5-day week in offices likely

PATNA: After the Central government offices, it's now the turn of Bihar government offices to introduce five-day week for their employees with increased working hours. Chief minister Nitish Kumar gave this hint while talking to media persons on Thursday and stressed the need for developing a proper work culture in state offices. To monitor the functioning of the offices and the employees, closed-circuit cameras may be installed, Nitish said. Pointing out that the state employees are already being provided facilities at par with Central government staff, he said there are still many who spend hardly two to three hours at office; come late and call it a day much before the closing time. "Even while at office, they move around gossiping and chewing tobacco," he said and added all this has to be stopped. The chief minister is likely to have discussions with employees unions on this issue. "At a time when investors from outside are coming with proposals, they should also notice a new work culture here. If a conducive work environment is not created, how will we satisfy them?" he said.
