Bihar student murder: SI's role to be investigated

The special cell of Delhi Police has said they will investigate the role of the SI whose family has been arrested for murdering a 23-year-old



student from Bihar. "We are investigating the role of the SI before we arrive at final conclusions," said Alok Kumar, DCP, special cell.
Twenty-three-year-old Shazia Urus from Betia in Bihar had come to Delhi to pursue a course in aviation. She was found dead by the Rajasthan police some time ago, though they could not establish her identity.

It was at the Delhi police commissioner's direction that the special cell took up the case and finally stitched the murder mystery together.

On Tuesday, the special cell arrested Raj Rani, her son Lalit Sharma and her nephew Narendra Sharma for allegedly murdering Shazia Urus, who had gone missing on September 26 this year from her rented home in Nangloi, close to her aviation institute.

"It all started after Urus had an argument with her landlord. The police were called to solve the case. Urus came in contact with SI Rajender Sharma (50), who was the investigating officer in her case. He was posted at the Nangloi police station at the time. Raj Rani is his wife," said a senior investigating officer.

Police said after her first meeting with SI Sharma, Urus got friendly with him. Sharma had reportedly promised to get her a job with Delhi Police and had even made her fill out some forms. His wife didn't like the association between the two and reportedly had an argument with Urus.

"Sharma's wife asked the landlord to throw Urus out of the house. Her nephew Narendra then persuaded Urus to stay at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Rohini," added the officer.

Later, Sharma's family came to Urus's PG and apologized to her, police said. They then asked her to join them on a trip to Rajasthan. "We suspect Urus was killed in Rohini and her body was later dumped in Rajasthan to mislead the police," said the officer.

Sharma has been transferred to the security wing of Delhi Police and investigators are ascertaining his role in the crime
