Minister punishes 'dirty' man

BHAGALPUR: State minister for urban development Ashwini Kumar Chowbey believes in “instant justice”, it seems. On Monday, when Chowbey and other officials of the Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation were engaged in a cleanliness drive here, the minister saw a youth urinating by the roadside. Choubey immediately called the youth and ordered him do sit-ups in full public view.
The minister was accompanied by mayor Veena Yadav and her predecessor Kahkashan Parween. However, Chowbey’s action had given a point of criticism to his political rivals. “It shows how a minister of Nitish government has no control on his evil impulses. One has no right to hurt the personal dignity of any person in full public view,
” said Praveen Singh Kushwaha, the state secretary of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee. Chowbey could not be contacted for his comments despite repeated attempts.
