Yet another Patna youth goes missing

Monday, April 30, 2007
police constable was detained and interrogated Monday after yet another youth went missing in this Bihar capital, police said.
Rajesh Kumar, in his 20s, has been missing Sunday. He was last seen going out with police constable Pawan Singh.
'We fear Rajesh has been abducted and Pawan Singh is involved in it,' said a relative of the youth.
Police said they failed to get any clue by interrogatind Pawan Singh, who reportedly denied any role in the crime.
The case appeared to be yet another instance of kidnapping: more than 900 people have been abducted across the state in the first three months of 2007. Last year more than 2,000 people were kidnapped, according to officials.
The body of one such victim, Ravi Kumar alias Golu, 5, who was abducted April 23 from Kadarabad village in Begusarai district, about 125 km from here, was discovered Sunday.
Ankit, 6, was abducted April 12 days ago, but police have failed to make any breakthrough.
Schoolchildren and teachers joined the protests last week here against the failure of the police to rescue Ankit.
'We have no more faith in police to recover him,' said Poonam Devi, the child's mother.
Leader of Opposition Rabri Devi said Chief Miniser Nitish Kumar had promised to make Bihar a crime-free state within three months when he came to power in November 2005, but had failed miserably.
'Nobody is safe in the state if the spate of abductions, murders, loot and extortions are anything to go by,' she said.
