13 Apr, 2007
PATNA: The six-year-old son of a trader has gone missing and is suspected to have been kidnapped from Alamganj locality, police said on Friday. Ankit, a student of St Paul School, was last sighted by a fellow student having ice cream with an unidentified man just outside the school on Thursday afternoon after which he disappeared. The boy's father Manoj Kumar Yadav runs a grocery shop and mother a beauty parlour at their residence. Ankit's parents lodged a missing case with the Alamganj police on Thursday evening after the child did not return home and on Friday they registered a kidnapping case, police said. No ransom call had been received by the family so far, they said. Manoj, who claimed he had no enmity with anyone, said he suspected his son was kidnapped for ransom. Angry over the incident, locals joined by the students of the St Paul School, have blocked busy Ashok Raj Path road and Mahatma Gandhi road overbridge on the Ganga, the vital link between south and north Bihar districts.
