School student abducted in Bihar

11 Apr, 2007

PATNA: A school student was on Wednesday abducted in a Bihar town at gun point for ransom, police said. Narendra Mohan alias Prince, a student of Kendriya Vidayalya in Darbhanga town, about 150 km from Patna, was kidnapped while on his way to school. Soon after news of the abduction spread, angry residents blocked roads to protest against the crime. Last week, the police recovered the body of an abducted 10-year-old student in Munger district, leading to violent street protests. The Patna High Court early this year directed the state government to trace 144 children and 581 women gone missing since 2001.
