Rabri flays caning of students

6 Apr, 2007
PATNA: Former CM Rabri Devi has criticised the police lathicharge on students at various places during the on-going Madhyama examinations. Dubbing the Nitish government as 'anti-student',
Rabri said in the pretext of holding fair examinations students are being beaten up in Sitamarhi, Motihari, Gaya and Bhagalpur.
She pointed out that examinations had been cancelled at 29 centres which reflected the failure of the state government. She alleged that the Nitish government was playing with the future of students and it did not have the moral right to continue in office any longer. Criticising the style of functioning of CM Nitish Kumar, Rabri said,
"On one hand, the CM has a picnic with his cabinet colleagues and officials while taking a cruise in the Ganga, on the other, criminals are extorting money from traders, farmers and contractors."
She also accused the state government of being insensitive towards acute shortage of drinking water in the state. Rabri also dubbed the NDA government as anti-minority and alleged that it had been making only false promises to the community.
