Cabinet nod to Agri College at Saharsa

PATNA: The state cabinet at its meeting held at the official residence of the chief minister, on Wednesday approved the proposal to establish an agriculture college in Saharsa. Cabinet secretary Girish Shankar said the new college would be known as Mandan Bharati Agriculture College and it would be affiliated to Rajendra Agriculture University, Pusa. The cabinet approved a sum of Rs 70 crore for the establishment of the agriculture college. It would be set up on the same location in Agwanpur where a Kisan Vidyapith and a Krishi Vigyan Kendra are located, said Shankar. The state cabinet also approved the proposal related to the state consumers protection commission. Commission members would now be paid a salary of Rs 10,000 per month along with Rs 400 conveyance allowance per month whereas the members of district consumers forum would be paid a monthly salary of Rs 7,500 along with Rs 400 conveyance allowance. The cabinet also okayed a proposal for deletion of the term "Mahto” from Kurmi (Mahto), found mentioned on serial no. 35 of Annexure II of the OBC list for reservation in government jobs. The cabinet okayed a proposal for an extension of one year to the State Administrative Reforms Commission. The term of the commission was to expire on April 12. A proposal for post-facto sanction of Rs 2.86 crore spent on the educational trip for the students of 5,737 state government middle schools in the year 2006-07 was approved. The cabinet also approved a proposal for observing birthday of former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 2 as a state function. Earlier, a review meeting of the works done by the state government was held at 1, Anne Marg. The meet decided to take the work of rectification of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families' lists after thorough inquiry into the complaints received about it from the people. Anyone can lodge a complaint about alleged irregularities in BPL lists between April 9 to May 7. The review meeting described the performance of the state government on every front as a "landmark”. They included 100 per cent utilisation of the plan fund. The state government spent Rs 8,670 crore plan fund on execution of various schemes during the financial year 2006-07.
