Patna, Mar 24: Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and former State Chief Minister Rabri Devi met Bihar Governor, R S Gavai submitted a memorandum that declared that the censure motion against opposition parties by the National Democratic Alliance-led State Government 'unconstitutional'..
Demonstrating Opposition legislators demanded the withdrawal of the censure motion and urged the Governor to intervene in the matter.
"We are protesting against whatever is happening in the Assembly. It (the Government) has moved a censure motion.
We took up the matter before the Governor. He has taken it seriously and assured us that he would take appropriate action in this regard," said Rabri Devi. " We went to plead before the Governor that our democratic rights are being violated. For the past 11 days, the NDA Government has been stopping us from participating in the proceedings of the house,
" said Rajendra Singh, an MLA of the CPI (Marxist-Leninst) .Opposition members have ruled out chance of a compromise and threatened to continue their boycott of the State Assembly's budget session.
The Opposition has been boycotting the session since March 13.On March 12, Opposition members created ruckus in the House, leading to its adjournment.Agitating members demanded the arrest of the persons named in an FIR in connection with an attack on the farmhouse of Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) MLA, Kunti Devi.
The House was then adjourned twice, compelling the State government to move a censure motion against the Opposition. The Speaker's attempt to resolve the deadlock failed.
