6 Mar, 2007

PATNA: He had come to play football for Mohun Bagan. But for Nigerian footballer Elvis Egochuckwan, soccer was the last thing on his mind on Sunday.
Egochuckwan, invited to play for Mohun Bagan, was robbed of Rs 75,000, his passport and other documents near the Mithapur locality in Patna on Sunday, a delayed report said on Tuesday. Egochuckwan had boarded an auto-rickshaw from the station to a hotel when some armed criminals dragged him out and took away his cash, passport, identity card and other documents at gunpoint. Police officials contacted the Nigerian Embassy in New Delhi and arranged a train ticket for him to travel back to New Delhi. Last month, an Indian American doctor Baleshwar Prasad was robbed of Rs 200,000 when he came here to attend the January 19-21 global meet on "Resurgent Bihar".
