PATNA: Railway minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad expressed anger against his own partymen on Saturday at a function organised by the party to conclude the late Karpoori Thakur birth anniversary celebrations. "Issue showcause to the district unit presidents and leaders who did not participate in this event. If their reply is not satisfactory, expel them from the party," Lalu told state party president Abdul Bari Siddiqui. The RJD chief was angry because his order to form a cadre-based party had not been followed by his leaders. "When I asked party leaders to go to the grassroots, I meant they should go to the villages and blocks, but they held meetings only at the district headquarters," he said, adding RJD has no place for leaders who do not believe in principles and are party-hoppers. "I will not allow the party to be a pocket organisation. I have made mistakes in the past. I allowed a man, who has filed a case against me, entry into RJD and made him a minister and a powerful party leader," he said, indirectly referring to Shivanand Tiwari, who recently deserted RJD and joined JD(U). Lalu criticised the Nitish government, saying: "Lok (people) par tantra (bureaucracy) havi ho gayi hai".Making fun of Nitish's foundation-laying spree, Lalu said: "Nitish is laying foundation stones which are half-a-km-long. Nothing happens after that." Referring to state government's move to appeal against his acquittal in the DA case, Lalu quipped: "Nitish is taking help of legal experts." Lalu also made fun of Nitish's statement that he (Nitish) is not superstitious. "Then, what was he doing during the Shivaratri festival?" asked Lalu, referring to the photograph of the CM praying in a temple.
