Railway Ministry's gift of Rs 15,000 crore projects to Bihar'

Patna, Feb 21 (ANI): Projects worth Rs 15,000 crore have been cleared for upgrading the rail network in Bihar, Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said here on Wednesday.

Flagging off the new Patna-Ahmedabad Azimabad Express (weekly) train at the Rajendranagar Terminal here, Yadav said "We have gifted the state with projects worth Rs 15,000 crore".The projects include setting up of wheel, coach and locomotive factories in Chapra, construction of rail overbridges over River Ganga connecting Digha with Sonepur and River Kosi in Saharsa and broad gauge conversion of rail lines.Yadav said six new trains were introduced in Bihar during the past three days, which fulfilled the promise he made for the State in the railway budget last year, he added.Rail locomotive factory in Saran and the wheel factory in Chapra, his parliamentary constituency, were being set up with an estimated expenditure of around Rs 3,000 crore, he added.Yadav further said that while the laying of 600 kilometre railway lines was on in the State, a survey was also being conducted to expand the railway network in another stretch of 1,350 km in the state.
