PATNA: The opposition in Bihar assembly on Monday staged a walkout after criticising the state government for delay in constitution of a commission for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. The matter was raised during the zero hour by suspended JD(U) MLA Chedi Paswan, who charged the government with delaying formation of the SC and ST panel as the ruling alliance had not secured Dalit votes in the assembly polls. "A host of commissions have been formed, but not the SC and ST commission. The government has kept it on the back burner as Dalits had not voted for the NDA in the assembly elections," Paswan, who was suspended from JD(U) a few months ago for alleged anti-party activities, alleged. Grabbing the opportunity to castigate the government, RJD's Jagdanand Singh, Ramchandra Purve and Shyam Rajak demanded that the government reply to the charge levelled by Paswan. As nobody from the treasury benches was prepared to reply to the charge, Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary said, "Government's reply to an issue raised during zero hour is not necessary. The government has taken notice of the matter raised." Angry Opposition members persisted with their demand for a statement from the government on how long it will take to constitute the panel. However, with no reply forthcoming, the MLAs of RJD, Congress and CPI(M) trooped out of the house.
