Nitish taking legal help to trap me, says Lalu

PATNA: RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Sunday claimed that the Nitish Kumar Government in Bihar is trying to ``trap'' him through litigations and is taking the help of legal experts for the purpose. Mr. Prasad's claims come in the wake of the State Government's reported move to challenge his acquittal in the disproportionate assets case in the Patna High Court.

``This is a government of litigants. It is trying to trap me through litigations for which Chief Minister Nitish kumar is taking help of legal experts,'' he alleged here.
Referring to his in-laws, who were recently caught travelling in a train without a valid ticket, he said that law was equal for all and praised the TTE for his action. The TTE had legalised their journey from Hajipur to Siwan after taking the fare of the AC first class.
Criticising JD (U) national spokesman Shivanand Tiwari for charging him and his relatives with making the Railways their `personal property', Mr. Prasad said Mr. Tiwari had no moral right to comment on his in-laws' journey as the latter had himself spent some time in jail in Madhya Pradesh for ticketless travel few years ago.
Mr. Prasad said he repented having befriended persons who had filed cases against him. He was apparently referring to Mr. Tiwari who had filed a PIL against him seeking a CBI probe into the multi-crore rupees fodder scam in 1996.
``I have made mistakes in the past, I allowed a man, who has filed a case against me, into the RJD and made him a Minister and a powerful party leader,'' he said. Mr. Tiwari, who was Minister for Excise and Prohibition in the previous Rabri Devi Government, has recently deserted the RJD and joined the JD (U).- PTI
