CAT notices to Centre, Bihar on DGP Mishra`s suspension

Patna, Feb 15: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Thursday issued notices to the Centre and Bihar government asking why the suspension of senior IPS officer Narayan Mishra on graft charges should not be stayed. A division bench of justices P K Sinha and S N P Sinha ordered the issuance of the notices after hearing a petition filed by Mishra challenging his suspension. The replies are to be filed by March 7, when the hearing of the petition will resume. Mishra is facing charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The former state police chief was suspended from the post of Director General of Bihar's home guards on February nine. He had yesterday moved the CAT to challenge his suspension. Mishra was suspended by the state government after stocks and bonds worth Rs 19 lakh and papers related to investments in real estate -- allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income -- were seized from his residences during raids by the special vigilance cell on February 7. The vigilance cell conducted simultaneous night-long raids at Mishra's house in Vednagar here and a flat at Hazaribagh in Jharkhand.
