PATNA: The Bihar government has prepared a Rs 9,773 crore annual plan for financial year 2007-08 with emphasis on social sector and infrastructure, particularly road and transport. The plan size would be finalised at a meeting between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia on February 13. The size of the 11th five year plan prepared by the state government involving Rs 58,310 crore with a projected annual growth of 8.5 per cent would also be finalised during the meeting, official sources said here on Sunday. Sources said the annual plan for 2007-08 lays stress on social sector, including social security, surface transport, including road construction, irrigation and flood control. While the outlay for the social sector is approximately Rs 3,000 crore, roughly 30 per cent of the plan, transport and road construction gets about Rs 2,400 crore. The plan projected expenditure of about 12.9 per cent on irrigation and flood control, 10 per cent on rural development, 7.71 per cent on power and 3.52 per cent on industry, they said. The plan size for the current fiscal ending March 2007 was initially of Rs 8,250 crore which was later increased to Rs 9,60 crore. The size of 10th five year plan for Bihar was Rs 21,000 crore, Rs 37,310 crore less than the one prepared by the state government for the 11th plan. Sources said a day after Kumar's meeting with Planning panel's Deputy Chairman, Secretaries of important departments of the state government would have another round of discussions with the commission officials.
