
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, while attending the Special Fishermen Day at Vidyapati Bhawan in Patna on Monday, declared July10th of each year as the Fishermen's Day in Bihar while expressing his frustration over their plights under various previous regimes.
"The previous governments have ignored the pathetic conditions of the fishermen in Bihar but we are committed to change that for ever," Modi said adding the NDA government would develop fishery industry side by side with agriculture in the state.
The Deputy Chief Minister further said the government was working on a special package for development of fishery industry in the state including provision for training for fishermen in Andhra Pradesh, development of a huge pond close to the Governor's mansion to promote fishery.
Forest and Environment Minister Ramchandra Sahni who was also present on the occasion, said several new projects have been initiated to develop forest keeping the interest of the fishermen in mind.
